Around 50 members attended our recent Annual General Meeting – one of the biggest AGM turnouts we've seen in recent years. It was a fantastic show of support for the Club and its future. With almost every volunteer position now filled, we're heading into the new season with a motivated team and plenty of momentum.
The AGM saw Carolyn Hay elected as our new President, taking over from Annie Triffett, whose leadership has helped guide the Club through one of the most challenging periods in our history. We'd like to sincerely thank Annie for her dedication, leadership and the enormous contribution she has made to the Club.
With the election of a new President and Board; memberships now open for the 2026/27 season; and our move into our new home just around the corner—there's a lot happening.
We know that change can bring mixed emotions. For some it will be difficult to see the old surf club building demolished. The original building held decades of memories, milestones and community connection. As we move forward, we honour that history and the people who shaped it – including the Traditional Owners of this land, whose deep connection to Patuyala (pahtoyyahlah)/Boat Harbour grounds our work today carrying those foundations with us into the next chapter.
We've heard plenty of questions from members and the wider community about the new facility. Who manages it? Can community groups use it? How does the partnership with Council work? What happens next?
